Our Story
Shift Hero was founded by automation engineer James McCartney after years of seeing the same problem across UK manufacturing: when critical equipment fails, finding the right engineer fast is harder than it should be.
Traditional recruitment agencies lacked technical understanding, often sending engineers who weren’t properly assessed for site-critical industrial environments. Internal teams were left overstretched, and downtime costs continued to rise.
To solve this, Shift Hero was created as a specialist on-demand engineering platform that matches qualified, pre-vetted maintenance engineers to live operational requirements, fast.
Every engineer is screened through a structured process including qualification checks, competence validation, and technical interview assessment carried out by experienced engineers, not recruiters.
Today, Shift Hero operates as a dedicated engineering deployment platform, built to keep UK manufacturing running with speed, reliability, and confidence.
